People say we’re lucky because both husband and I have jobs. I say that we’re all blessed based on how we define the word. While it’s true that 2 heads are better than one, I still have “raket” on the side to help my husband earn for our family. I feel productive and accomplished whenever an item is sold! It keeps me busy that I have no time to think of negative thoughts which helped me in my battle with depression. My sidelines serve as an additional source of income and help us a lot especially during “critical wallet days” o “pecha de peeligro” sabi sa call center.
I just discovered one fine day that pre-loved clothes could be sold on Facebook, thus, I decided to sell my and my daughter’s dresses, tops and shorts. The money generated from online selling was used as my transportation and food allowance. When I did this, not only that I earned but we also got to dispatch the stuff we dont use anymore to provide space for other items. Some customers would ask for “last price” when the item is for sale at lower than half the price, not to mention the condition of the items and freebies I provide but I guess demanding buyers are part of the business. I stopped selling when there’s no more left to sell 🙂 And the husband told me one time, “sa susunod baka ako na ibenta mo!” Hahaha!
Another “therapy” during my depression days- COOKING. I tried desserts first. Since I found graham balls easy to do, I made some and brought it at the office. It’s not my intention to sell but one of my agents said she liked it and that I should try to take some orders because it’s yummy. Weeee. Laki ng ulo. Haha. Anyhow, on that same day, I took orders from 11 agents and brought their orders the week after. That 11 became 20 and more as my GB became a craze. Char. It went on for months and I was the one who voluntarily stopped because my husband told me I was busier and my rest days were spent mashing milk and crushed grahams rather than playing with my kids.
Load. Since I noticed that a lot of people at the office are looking for someone who sells prepaid cellphone loads,I decided to take advantage of this opportunity. Haha! The business was going well until I sent prepaid loads worth 100pesos to incorrect mobile numbers and I lost track of those who bought loads from me.
After my hiatus (yes, hiatus!) I’m back with new products to sell- lippies! Because of this, my one and only Ever Bilena pink lipstick had new sisters. I also use the lippies I sell to test its quality and to mowdel it. Pak!Genern!I ask my buyers to take a selfie wearing the lipstick they got from me and post it on Facebook to advertise my product. This strategy is sooo effective. Thanks to my gorgeous suki! Love you!
Occasionally, I post pre-loved items on selling groups and take lippy orders. My children’s birthdays were partially funded by my raket earnings. I am grateful to my husband for supporting me all the way and to my customers for their trust. It’s not bad if you want to earn more. There’s a lot of things that you can try. Just remember this one important note: make sure that you don’t compromise your time with your husband and kids. They should be your priority. Money can’t buy memories. They need your presence more than the money you earn.

I used to sell online too until I got tired of buyers who doesn’t read, nakapost na nga yung details including the price, nagtetext pa rin… So yung earnings ko minsan napupunta na lang sa load. Good thing it worked out for you.

I basically do the same thing. Haha the food selling and online writing. I think filipinos have it backwards that they think when moms start selling, they think we are desperate or badly needed money. But it is one character of an excellent woman I found in Proverbs 31. 🙂 That SHE is very good with the works of her hands and that she earns with the the fruit of her hands. 🙂 Good job mom. 🙂

Good job to us! And thanks for sharing that bible verse. Correct, sometimes they think we are desperate but in fact, it’s the joy we feel when we know we’re productive 🙂

Agree. Make sure you don’t compromise your time for your family while doing your business. Know your focus and priority. As for me, ang dami ko din gusto itry, but… kulang sa time. Maybe I jus wait for the time when my kids are old enough to help me do my raket. 😄

I think, Mommies are really madiskarte! Marami akong kilalang mommies na madaming raket para lang kumita ng extra para sa family just like you! Honestly, if I’m not pregnant sana, marami rin sana akong naiisip na raket eh. Hahaha! Kaso “sleep is life” ako ngayon. Huhu! Mahalaga kasi health din ni baby eh.

Wow, momma raketera, indeed! Doing these small businesses on the sides do help a lot, especially for the family finances. I posted some pre-loved books and clothes that my son has outgrown on Facebook and I really enjoyed selling them. I thought I can do this for a living. I think I need to find more items to sell! 😀
Keeping yourself occupied will also work well to keep the depression at bay. I sure hope you get to say goodbye to this for good. Small steps. Meanwhile, stay happy and focus on the positive always! 🙂
