Voice Out Gratitude (Better Than Jewels 11-2)

Old habits die hard. I’m glad that even if I stopped reading books for a while, I still find myself going back to reading. One of the newest books that I have is Better Than Jewels by Rica Peralejo, a weekly devotional. Each topic has questions for the readers and there’s a space where you can write your answers. I started reading this last September. No, I’m not going to write a book review. I just want to share how this book changed my perception about what I’m going through and write about this week’s topic.

I was planning to buy Better Than Jewels during my dark days but hesitated because I want other options. When I asked one of my friends if she has a recommendation, she sent me this:

Parang nagpaparamdam talaga! So I grabbed a copy and true enough, the Lord was talking to me. The first topic for September is entitled The Purpose of our Past. I cried when I read this chapter. Oo na, Lord, sorry na. Magsisimula na ako sa acceptance phase. Ayoko na mabuhay sa past.  Reading this devotional has been my weekly habit since then. I open it when I’m alone in the morning, usually the day after my rest day. There are bible stories shared and I was moved by the story of the Shunammite woman. If a woman who was bleeding for 12 years was healed by the Lord, I have full faith that He understands my suffering and through Him, I will be healed as well.

I am now on November week 2 and it’s about voice out gratitude. A habit of always saying thanks might change our life, according to Rica. At the end of the topic, the activity is to say thank you to those who have helped you and you can do it whatever way you want. Lalayo pa ba ko? Syempre iba-blog ko na yan haha!

So here it is, my simple “thank you” to these people who put up with me and whose support did not waver when I was at my worst:

Thank you, Ickai, for always remembering me. Thank you for your kind words and for listening to my endless drama. Thank you for making me realize that I don’t live only for myself but for my children. That I have to think of their well being before I let my emotions ruin me. Matutupad din lahat ng pangarap natin. See you soon, darling. More chika more fun na naman sigurado.

Thank you, Mamy Sel, sa words of wisdom at sa laging pagpapakalma sakin. Thank you dahil nilalapit mo ko kay Lord at lagi mong pinapaalala that God is good. I admire your strength. You are a blessing to me. Alam ko never mo ko hinusgahan. Ibang tao lang jina-judge natin nyahaha! Thank you, Mamy. See you on Friday 🙂

Thank you for listening and understanding. Lagi akong andito para sa inyo, okay? Love ko kayo. Kayo rin, Mon and Ces.

Mwah!

Biyin at Ice, yung Thursday morning natin na nagshare tayo ng kwento sa isat isa ay never kong malilimutan 🙂 I’ve learned a lot from you two. Thank you dahil you trusted me. Mahirap din magkwento minsan lalo pag di mo naman matagal nakasama ang tao pero I feel like ang tagal tagal na nating magkakakilala. Thank you for being kind to me. I will treasure our friendship.

That’s it for voice out gratitude. It’s going to be another topic next week and I plan to share my responses on this blog. Today, try to do this activity to the people you are grateful for. It does not have to be a blog post though.  You can write them a letter or drop them a message. It’s up to you. What’s improntant is for them to hear you say thank you 🙂

With you in having a grateful heart,
